Big Little Lies season two returns to HBO today (Sunday, June 9) with an all new series set in the beach-side town. Some big names are assigned to the second series including Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman. Here’s everything you need to know about the cast of Big Little Lies season two.

Who is in the cast of Big Little Lies season 2?
Celeste Wright – Nicole Kidman
Australian Oscar winner Nicole Kidman will be returning to the role of Celeste Wright.
Big Little Lies series two will pick up a few months after the events of the first series, which saw the death of her husband Perry (played by Alexander Skarsgård).
Celeste is a former attorney who we see suffering in the hands of her abusive husband in the first season.
This series we expect to her grappling in the aftermath of the finale for herself and her two sons.
Madeline Mackenzie – Reese Witherspoon
Tour-de-force Madeline Mackenzie is back played by Reese Witherspoon.
The mother to Chloe (Darby Camp) and Abigail (Kathryn Newton), series one saw her going above and beyond to get the best for them.
The second series will show her as she excels in her career as a realtor as well as protecting the secret of Perry’s death.
Renata Klein – Laura Dern
Laura Dern plays highly-strung mother Renata Klein in the hit series.
Clashing with many of the characters in the first series, Renata developed a camaraderie with the other women at the end of series one.
Viewers can expect to see her being her usual over-the-top self in the second series.
Bonnie Carlson – Zoë Kravitz
X-Men actor Zoë Kravitz will also be back as Bonnie Carlson, who will be struggling to cope with her role in Perry’s murder.
We last saw her pushing him to his death in the season finale – a choice she is still coming to terms with.
Bonnie is married to Nathan Carlson (James Tupper), who is Madeline’s ex-husband.
Jane Chapman – Shailene Woodley
Played by Shailene Woodley, Jane’s arc in the first series saw her as the new mother in the neighbourhood as well as dealing with the trauma of being raped.
At the end of series two, it was revealed that Perry was her rapist and the father of her son Ziggy (Iain Armitage).
Ziggy Chapman – Iain Armitage
Young actor Iain Armitage will also be back for the second series of the show as Ziggy, Jane’s son.
The 10-year-old actor is known for his role in the show as well as starring as Sheldon Cooper in Young Sheldon.
Mary Louise Wright – Meryl Streep
Meryl Steep also joins the cast as Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry.
She heads into the area to help Celeste and her grandchildren, but while she’s in the town, she is keen to find out what actually happened on the night of her son’s death.
Adam Scott is also back as Madeline’s husband Ed Mackenzie and Kathryn Newton as her daughter Abigail Carlson.
Alexander Skarsgård’s Perry will be seen in glimpses in series two but won’t be back after his character’s death at the end of season one.
Big Little Lies season two airs on HBO at 9pm ET on Sunday, June 9 and is simulcast on Sky Atlantic at 2am BST on Monday, June 9.
