The actress is set to depart Coronation Street and fans fear it will result in Sinead being killed off by bosses in a huge cancer twist.
Sinead gave birth to her and husband Daniel Osbourne’s (played by Rob Mallard) baby Bertie while going through cancer treatment, but the future looks uncertain.
The on-screen couple appeared on ITV’s This Morning and revealed what the future holds for Sinead.
Katie spoke of the storyline: “We have had a lot of women come up to me – some even crying telling me their personal emotive stories, and I well up every time because we are making a real impact in people’s lives.
“Real people are being affected by this day in day out and that’s the aspect of this whole storyline. We’re trying to help real people go through it.”
Asked if fans can expect anymore ups and downs, she revealed: “Possibly.”
Things have been quiet for Sinead recently and it could be the calm before the storm as an even more heartbreaking storyline is coming.
With the star leaving the cobbles at some point, bosses might have decided to kill the character off.
However, it appears she would want a return to the show at some point in the future.
She has previously revealed: “I’ve really enjoyed my time on the Street and it’d be amazing if I got to stay as it is like a family here.
“But at the same time, as an actor, I’d love to go out there and see what there is, I like doing different things and it’d be exciting to see if I could play a different character again.”
She also spoke to The Sun about the importance of the storyline: “There’s so many girls I’ve spoken to who don’t go for smear tests, so many women that don’t go for their smears.
“I just think it’s really important to highlight what these women have to go through.”
Over the last few months, Sinead has put fans through hell as they saw her deal with prospect of having to choose between her own life and that of her unborn baby.
She withheld treatment in order to let the baby grow and began a more natural approach to treatment, which resulted in her condition worsening.
In devastating scenes, she was then forced to give birth to her son prematurely so that he could start a stronger course of treatment.
Finally, she managed to complete treatment and successfully gave birth to baby Bertie.
Meanwhile, next week’s episodes are set to solve the mystery surrounding who was responsible for the factory roof collapse and Rana Habeeb’s (Bhavna Limbachia) death.
Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) could be about to confess to partner Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), but could this be to stealing £80k from grandma Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls)?
Carla Connor (Alison King), who was blamed for the roof collapse, was hospitalised recently in scenes that left fans angry at Ken Barlow (William Roache).
