The US President caused widespread controversy after he accused the Congresswoman of having “compassion for ISIS recruits”. Following those remarks, the crowd at the rally in North Carolina began to chant “send her back”. In light of those remarks, Dan’s co-host Naga Munchetty revealed that she was “furious” about the US President’s controversial tweets.

Although Naga did not accuse the President of being a racist, she revealed that she had been told something similar numerous times.

She added: “I’m not accusing anyone of anything here but you know what certain phrases mean.”

Quickly after BBC Breakfast, one user on Twitter attacked the two presenters for being “biased”.

David Taylor, wrote: “Naga Munchetty giving her opinions on BBC Breakfast not a good look from a journalist.

He wrote in response: “So not being of favour of getting told to ‘go home’ when you are at home makes you biased?”

Agreeing with Dan’s tweet, over 1,000 of his followers like his comment.
