Sean Fletcher and Ben Shephard presented Good Morning Britain today, while Kate Garraway was noticeably absent.
With Richard Arnold also delivering the entertainment news too, the ITV hosts joked about the amount of men on the broadcast.
“Hello there, good morning,” Ben said as the show opened. “It’s just gone six o’clock, welcome to the Magic Mike breakfast show!”
“It’s all gone very masculine, hasn’t it?” Sean asked.
Although, it soon became clear why Ben and Sean were hosting the show together.
“We should point out that Kate Garraway is ill,” Ben went on to tell viewers as the show flashed up a photo of the presenter.
Ben then laughed: “There’s a picture of her incase you don’t know what she looks like.”
“It’s like her obituary!” Richard Arnold observed. “This programme is brutal.
“She had dinner at mine last night she just hasn’t got the stamina,” he joked.
Sean jested: “I just popped something in her coffee yesterday just so I could be in the hot seat.”
Ben went on to explain that Kate wasn’t in the studio today after falling ill yesterday.
He shared: “Kate wasn’t feeling great yesterday morning then sort of mid-way through the day she took to her bed, she’d had enough.”
Sean continued: “I’m a bit worried people are tuning in and seeing two blokes and thinking ‘well, I’m sure I’m digging that’ but actually I’m quite happy to identify as Kate Garraway if that’s the case.
“You see a middle-aged black man but actually I’m Kate Garraway.”
Richard chuckled: “Tell you what, she’d settle for middle-aged.”
The trio were joined on the programme by correspondent Katy Rickitt who is usually seen out and about covering the news across the across for GMB.
Ben explained: “Katy’s joined us on the desk as well, it’s lovely to have Kate in the studio, out of the wet and cold.”
Katy replied: “Thank you very much, I think I took a detour on the M6 and ended up in a completely parallel universe!
“It’s warm and it’s cosy and it’s lovely!”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
