Killing Eve season two arrived in the UK on BBC One June 8. Fans were eagerly waiting for the show to come after it was recommissioned in April 2018. Season two premiered on BBC America back in April for US audiences. Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge penned the first series and the new season is from Emerald Fennell. However, Waller-Bridge is still serving as executive producer. Here’s a look at who is returning for the highly anticipated new season.
Who is in the cast of Killing Eve season 2?
WARNING: This article contains spoilers about Killing Eve season 1
Eve Polastri – Sandra Oh
Sandra Oh is back in the lead role of secret service agent Eve Polastri.
Viewers last saw Eve in Villanelle’s Paris apartment, rushing to Villanelle’s aid after she stabbed her in a shocking twist.
However, when Eve ran back to the bedroom, Villanelle was gone.
No doubt Eve is still completely obsessed with Villanelle and will do anything to find her in season two.
Oh is best known for playing Cristina Yang on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy from 2004 until 2014.
For her performance as Eve, Oh won several accolades including a Critics Choice Award, A Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actor’s Guild Award.
Villanelle – Jodie Comer
Jodie Comer is back as the psychopathic assassin, Villanelle, in Killing Eve season two.
Villanelle was stabbed by Eve in the final seconds of season one.
Judging by the trailer, Villanelle survived the stab wound and will be back to wreak havoc across Europe.
Villanelle will most likely do anything she can to mess with Eve this series.
Comer has previously starred as Chloe Gemelli in My Mad Fat Diary and as Kate Parks in Doctor Foster.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Comer said: “Me and Sandra – we’re always expected to have the answer, but we’re still trying to figure it out. There is sexual chemistry and there is also platonic admiration and fascination.
“The bottom line is they will meet again….They’re always going to be chasing each other’s tails. It’s just when that meeting happens and the consequences…”
Carolyn Martens – Fiona Shaw
Fiona Shaw will reprise her role as the head of the Russia section of MI6, Carolyn Martens.
Shaw is an Irish actress and opera director best known for playing Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter films.
Other notable roles include Marnie Stonebrook in HBO’s True Blood and as Fleabag’s new counsellor in Fleabag season two.
Niko Polastri – Owen McDonnell
Owen McDonell is back as Eve’s husband, Niko, in Killing Eve two.
At the end of season one, Niko and Eve’s relationship was on the rocks after she abandoned him to go to Russia.
In the trailer for the new season, it is confirmed that Niko will be back after Villanelle is spotted in his kitchen.
He asks Villanelle what she is looking for to which she replies: “A knife….to kill you with.”
McDonnell is an Irish actor, best known for playing Garda Sergeant Jack Driscoll in Single-Handed.
Kenny – Sean Delaney
Sean Delaney is back as the ex-hacker who has been recruited by MI6 to help catch Villanelle.
Kenny was also hilariously revealed to be the son of Carolyn in season one.
Kenny will most likely be back to continue to support Eve’s actions, against his mother’s wishes.
Killing Eve is Delaney’s first major acting role, having previously starred as a young boy in Midsomer Murders.
At the moment it is unknown if Villanelle’s handler Konstantin, played by Kim Bodnia, will star in Killing Eve season two.
The plot of the new season has been kept under wraps but fans will know that Villanelle shot Konstantin in a stand-off in a cafe.
In the final minutes, it is revealed that Konstantin died of his injuries – however, this is never confirmed and viewers did not see Konstantin actually die.
Viewers will no doubt find out in the Killing Eve season two.
Joining the cast is Last Tango in Halifax star Nina Sosanya, Edward Bluemel of A Discovery of Witches fame and Julian Barrett from The Mighty Boosh.
