Lucifer viewers have been speculating about the upcoming season for months.
Now that the release date has finally been announced for its arrival on Netflix, viewers only have to wait a few weeks to see the return of the Lord of Hell – Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis).
Brand new images of season four were recently released by Netflix and show off the arrival of Eve (Inbar Lavi) in Lucifer’s world.
One image sees the pair walking down a set of stairs arm-in-arm looking a little puzzled – but could it mark the start of a romance?
Whereas another shows off Eve mischievously smirking in Lucifer’s club whilst holding a martini.
In the months leading up to Lucifer’s season four arrival it has been theorised that Eve will be returning to claim her former flame’s attention.
And her character synopsis also pointed towards causing some trouble for the ruler of the underworld.
However another image shows Lucifer in high spirits as he raises a smirks whilst holding up an auction paddle which cheekily has the number “69″.
Meanwhile Chloe Decker (Lauren German) was assumed to be the main attraction of season four, as season three closed out with her seeing Lucifer’s devil face for the first time.
But in one of the new images Chloe can be seen smiling at the demon whilst looking over what could be a new murder case.
Could the duo’s relationship be fixed early into the upcoming season?
The synopsis for the show’s new episodes has also been released, and reads: “Reeling from the aftermath of Chloe seeing his devil face, Lucifer faces a new challenge: Eve, the original sinner herself, is back.
“Does she want revenge for when he tempted her out of Eden oh so many years ago… or something else entirely?”
While the pair look quite cosy in the new images, fans can be sure to see a new villain crop out of her.
Viewers who are familiar with biblical stories will know Eve spent a lot of time in the Garden of Eden – which fans think is featured in the latest trailer.
The trailer sees Lucifer climbing out of a swimming pool is a garden.
And fans quickly jumped on Reddit to proclaim the new venue to be a big deal.
One fan said: “This is a stretch, but is it possible that in the teaser we got for season four, [it] is placed in the Garden of Eden?
“Since we are dealing with Eve this season it would kind of make sense and in a promo photo for season four it has Lucifer biting an apple with a snake inside, which can also be referencing the Garden of Eden.”
Lucifer season 4 arrives May 8 on Netflix.
