On Politics: Trump Touts America’s ‘Environmental Leadership’

Kris W. Kobach, a Republican who rose to national prominence among conservatives through his hard-line positions on immigration and voting rights, announced on Monday that he would seek the Kansas Senate seat held by Pat Roberts, who is retiring.

Senator Elizabeth Warren raised $19.1 million in the past three months, outpacing Senator Bernie Sanders, her main rival for the Democrats’ progressive wing.

The Congressional Budget Office found Monday that a bill to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025 would lift 1.3 million people out of poverty but also put an estimated 1.3 million Americans out of work.

Mr. Trump and Attorney General William P. Barr began working to find a way to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census just after the Supreme Court blocked its inclusion last month. Mr. Barr believes that the administration can find a legal path to adding the question, but gave no details as to how.

Mr. Barr accused Democrats on Monday of subpoenaing testimony from Robert S. Mueller III, who is scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees on July 17, to “create some kind of public spectacle” rather than to elicit facts.
